for his inquisitive and sharp docs - Arto Halonen. On January 25th, his
masterclass is taking place in BFM, where the previously registered
audience can go in-depth into his world and ask suitably inquisitive
questions. The participation is free! Register at dagmar@docpoint.ee Fri 25th of January at 3 pm in BFM Nova hall

Docpoint opening film "When Heroes Lie" dives deep into the murky
waters of the 2001 doping scandal in the Finnish cross-country skiing
team, when many of the Finnish stars got tested positive during the
Lahti World Championship.
Arto Halonen's film makes you ask if the real competition is between
the sportsmen, or the doctors. And what will happen, when heroes lie.

VIRU STORIES

One of the Docpoint pearls for the nostalgia-loving audience is certainly "Oratorio for the Hotel Viru". Johanna Onnismaa and Taru Mäkelä's bittersweet film about the building and heydays of the hotel Viru, up to the present day. There were times, when Tallinn (and the whole of Estonia) breathed in the Viru rhythm, not the other way round. In the shadow of this huge building, smaller stories reveal themselves, touching upon the political history of Europe. Estonian premiere!

“The sky ignited in the East, the day has risen,
the Earth was flooded with light.
My day was born,
and it has replayed itself,
for more then half a century now.
The day is one and the same,
and yet it always differs.
Sometimes it is sad and silent,
other times it shines”
